How to go from narrow places to wide open spaces

Every springtime I feel a bit like a flower. 🌷

There is always a part of its journey while it’s still underground and it sprouts from its seed and starts to push upward through the dirt towards the light above.

This tiny new little sprout works to rise through all the heavy layers of earth, not knowing how far or how long it will take. Squeezing through those narrow places between each molecule of dirt until it pops above ground to a place of plentiful space and sunlight.

Like the flower, there is always a time during the spring where I feel those narrow places in my own life.

Where I’m feeling stuck.

Unable to yet see the light.

Struggling to envision a different perspective.

Experiencing a lack of freedom.

We all experience these narrow places.

These may show up in our reality as:

A persistent “problem” or pattern
Something that drains us
Giving more than we’re receiving
Loneliness

While these things may be a part of our current reality, they don’t have to be a part of our future.

Our reality is constantly being created by our brain based on our past.

According to Joe Dispenza, "our thoughts are an electrical charge that we’re sending out and our feelings are the magnetic charge that draws reality to us”.

When we are in one of those “narrow places” our thoughts that we’re sending out are often negative because they are pulling on past failures or ways things didn’t go how we wanted (if they had gone the way we wanted we wouldn’t currently be stuck in this narrow place).

And our feelings connected to those past thoughts are often negative as well, like feelings of hurt or frustration or fear. (“What if this never changes?”)

When we send out that negative charge based on our past, we attract more of the same negative back to ourselves.

So while we may want and try to do differently, it won’t change our reality and what we attract if we’re still thinking and feeling the same.

In fact, change begins simply by increasing our awareness.

Our awareness of what these narrow places are.
Awareness of how we’re limiting ourselves through our thoughts, feelings, perspectives or beliefs.

Like the seedling growing towards that tiny hint of light, awareness brings light to these dark and narrow places.

And when something is brought from dark to light, it cannot stay the same.

Because awareness means that we now know there is a wider place. A different electrical and magnetic charge. Other possible perspectives and possibilities.

As we move through this season…

What narrow places do you want to bring more awareness to in your life?

Share your thoughts below.

Sending blessings to you in those current narrow places and wishing you the freedom of future wider spaces.
