3 magic words that will lighten your load

April is National Stress Awareness Month.

Stress can take many forms.
Physical stress on the body and tiredness.
Mental low points.
Emotional worries or anxieties.
Energetic misalignment. 

One of the ways I know when I'm experiencing one of these versions of stress is when I notice my day to day tasks and commitments are starting to feel like a bit of a burden.

I become aware of thoughts and feelings like, "I NEED to do this" or "I HAVE to do this" or "I SHOULD do this".

And feeling if I don't do it, things won't be ok in some way.

The next time you notice yourself feeling this way about your to do's or commitments, try this hack to shift yourself into a different space.
Say...

"I GET to do this."

It will not change what there is to do. 

But it can transform it from feeling heavy to feeling light.
From being a burden to being a gift.

Some things I've been using this for lately:

I get to meditate.
I get to cook dinner.
I get to clean my apartment.
I get to teach this class.
I get to pay my taxes.
I get to go outside in the rain.
I get to prep for this workshop.

May we be compassionate with ourselves in those moments when our to do's feel like a burden and consciously choose to remember the gift that they truly are.
