3 truths about healing + 5 simple winter self care tips

After the busyness and celebrations of the holiday season, it’s no wonder many people’s New Year’s goals center around wanting to take care of their health, improve their wellness and increase their overall energy and how they feel.

Maybe you're one of those people.

When it comes to the human body, here are 3 truths I find helpful to remember when choosing how I want to take care of myself.

  1. The body is always trying (and working towards) healing.

  2. The body is incredibly receptive and responsive.

  3. The body is intuitive and knows what it needs.

This means that it ISN’T our job to heal our body.

Our job is:

✅ To create an environment for our body that supports and enables its healing.

✅ To improve our ability to understand how our body communicates with us.

✅ To listen to that communication and follow those intuitive instructions it’s always providing us with.

And it begins with calming your nervous system.

One of the easiest and most effective ways I know to bring the nervous system into a state of calm is by doing Legs Up the Wall Pose.

Begin with this 15 Minute Legs Up the Wall Practice and then implement the 5 Simple and Easy Daily Winter Self Care Tips below to support your body in thriving during this current season!

15 Minute Legs Up the Wall Practice

5 Simple + Easy Daily Winter Self Care Tips

  1. Warm beverages to support digestion and detox. My current favorites are: Salty Lemon Water in the morning and Ginger Lemon Water with Turmeric in the evening.

  2. Get out into the daylight as soon as possible after you wake up. Even if only for a minute.

  3. Get outside right before sunset.

  4. Keep moving even if your movement looks different and your body is craving more gentle things: stretching for flexibility, walks for circulation, qi gong for energy.

  5. Dry brushing to support the lymphatic system and slough off all the dry winter skin.

If you have goals to improve your health this year I would LOVE to hear them! Hit reply and let me know!
