Summer beach read recommendations

One of my favorite self care activities is reading.

Like an actual old school book.
Not a tablet or a reader.
But a book.

As a child, going to the library used to be one of my favorite activities. I loved searching for books whose covers or words jumped out at me. I loved coming home with a stack of books and then getting to choose which one to dive into first.

During Covid, I started buying so many books that they were overtaking my apartment, so going back to the library was a habit I picked up again.

And I love a good beach read. So just in time for your 4th of July weekend planning, I wanted to share my favorite summer beach read authors and books!

Here are my Top 5 Summer Beach Read Authors…

  1. Anything by Emily Henry: I’ve loved every book she’s written- People We Meet on Vacation, Beach Read, Book Lovers, Happy Place… and this year’s most recent release, Funny Story. And the covers are always a pop of color and are a happy place all on their own. They often take place around the Michigan area so that’s an added benefit for me

  2. Katherine Center: I’ve read Hello Stranger, What You Wish For and Things You Save in a Fire. I appreciate her wit and sense of humor. This year’s release is The Rom-Commers, which I’ve added to my own book list.

  3. Kristy Woodson Harvey: I loved The Summer of Songbirds and it’s focus on lifelong female friendships. I’m currently in the middle of Feels Like Falling and her release for this year is A Happier Life. Her stories take place in the North Carolina area.

  4. Patti Callahan Henry: I loved The Secret Book of Flora Lea. It wasn’t the traditional relationship/falling in love beach read, but instead about the relationship of two sisters, which made me super grateful for my relationship with my own sister!

  5. Pam Jenoff: Her books are historical fiction based on women resistance fighters during World War II, so not as light of a read as the others, but always fascinating stories with a lot of mystery and plot twists! I’ve read The Lost Girls of Paris, Code Name Sapphire and The Orphan’s Tale.

I’m always looking for more and I would love to hear any recommendations you have!! Comment below and let me know!
