Some election stress relief

I am sure you, like me are, experiencing some feelings of stress and anxiety around the election this week.

I would never ask you how you voted. Or tell you how to feel right now. Instead, I thought I would share how I am caring for myself this week.

I’m taking this as an opportunity to build my resilience muscle. Increasing my resilience so that no matter how things unfold, I will be stronger in my own confidence that I will be OK.

Because I can’t control the situation.

I can’t know how it unfolds.

I can’t know what comes next.

But I can know, in my heart, that I will take care of myself and give myself what I need to feel safe no matter what happens.

And for me that means creating more love externally in the world. And I can only do that by starting at home. Creating more love for myself, and in my own heart.

By gently tending to myself.

The more we tend to ourselves ➡️ the calmer our nervous system becomes ➡️ the safer we feel ➡️ the stronger our resilience muscle becomes.

Here’s some things I plan to do today to stay in a space of love and tend to my heart:

I already spent some extra time in my happy place (also known as my bed).

Walking in the park.

Going to my favorite coffee shop

Meeting up with a friend for happy hour

Making the pasta I’ve been craving for weeks

If you’re in need of some election stress relief and a moment of calm for your nervous system, do this practice that I created 4 years ago on Election Day and still resonates today…

May you tend to your own heart and love yourself even more this week.
