44 quotes to live by for an empowered life
It's birthday week again! My sister and Brother-in-law celebrated their birthdays on Monday, my adopted Grandmother celebrated her 91st birthday on Tuesday, two of my friends are celebrating their birthdays today (Hi Steph and Erica! 🥳) and I’m celebrating my birthday on Sunday.
If you don't already know, I LOVE celebrating birthdays. And not just my own. I love celebrating everyone's birthday because it is a chance to celebrate the gift that specific person is in my life.
And I LOVE quotes.
There is something about a perfectly worded statement that has immense power.
Power to make us smile.
Power to make us think.
Power to evoke emotion.
And power to motivate us to strive towards the brightest, happiest, healthiest, kindest, most loving versions of ourselves.
So for my 44th birthday this year (yay repeating numbers!), I would love to share 44 of my favorite quotes.
Starting with this quote about celebration that really hit home as I thought about the idea of celebrating birthdays:
“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state–it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle…. Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one’s actions.”
~ Abraham Joshua Heschel
These 44 quotes are the ones that always seem to strike a perfect chord for me.
They’ve influenced the person I am today and continue to empower me to fully embrace each day from a place of passion, excitement and joy at this gift of life and the blessing it is to have made it to this season.
And I would love for YOU to celebrate my birthday by expressing reverence or appreciation for some action you’ve taken for yourself over the past year!
