42 things I’ve learned about life, love and living

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know that I LOVE my birthday. Actually, I love birthdays in general, so I love yours too. ❤️

This year I found myself being slightly less excited about my birthday, but now that it’s the week of, I am embracing the enthusiasm of the blessing that is being able to celebrate stepping into another year of life.

Because it truly is a blessing.

For my birthday, I wanted to ask you to do me the favor of giving me this gift… I would love for you to take a mental health day, half-day, hour, or even moment, and do something for yourself that will allow you to feel more peaceful and spacious.

It could be spending a day in bed with pajamas on binge, watching a list of shows you wanted to check out.

It could be getting a massage.

It could be pulling weeds in your garden

It could be taking a nap.

It could be taking time to do little tasks that keep getting pushed on your to do list from week to week, but are taking up a lot of mental space by being incomplete.

Your mental health is so vitally important to your overall health, well-being and ability to thrive.

There is no right or wrong way to take a mental health "day" as long as what you do leaves you feeling more spacious, restored, rejuvenated, peaceful, at ease or uplifted.

If you need more suggestions to spark creativity on ways that resonate with you to spend your mental health time, check out this recent article from The New York Times.

Whatever you choose to do, I would love to hear about it, and share in your joy and the peace it brings you. So comment below and give me the gift of letting me know!

And for some additional fun, here are 42 things I’ve learned about life, love and living (in no particular order) as I celebrate beginning my 42nd year on this planet...

  1. Opportunities are endless.

  2. Showers are life changing.

  3. And so are naps.

  4. Sharing gets shit done.

  5. Following your bliss will lead you on the right path.

  6. Travel opens your heart and expands your mind.

  7. Embrace more fun. It will make you feel happier and healthier.

  8. Let go of guilt. It only makes you feel poorly.

  9. Instead, make choices you fully embrace and know you won’t question or regret.

  10. When you commit to something, commit 100%. Watch how much more energy you have when you’re not divided.

  11. The point of life is love.

  12. All love is not created equal.

  13. Understanding the different types of love in your life can clarify the relationship and the role you want it to play.

  14. All humans are on their own journey and doing the best they can with the information they have.

  15. That also means some people are doing really shitty.

  16. Love them anyways. And be grateful that you are not going through their struggles and actually know better.

  17. We live in a benevolent Universe that loves us and wants us to have all the things we desire.

  18. There is always more money, our work is allowing ourselves to be open to receiving.

  19. Communication will make or break a relationship.

  20. We are in relationship with everything. Don’t just think about the people, consider the things in your life you encounter every day.

  21. Our ancestors both struggled and were survivors. We inherited both. Heal the struggles and give gratitude for the survival traits you were given.

  22. Learn from those who’ve come before you. You’ll get there faster and easier than trying to do it on your own.

  23. Perfection is not a thing.

  24. I do not have a green thumb. No matter what I do with them, my plants will always die

  25. There is no such thing as failure, only learning.

  26. As an Aquarius I (sometimes) hate people but always love humanity.

  27. Lime tortilla chips and salt and vinegar chips are my kryptonite.

  28. I dislike violence but love football.

  29. Water is healing.

  30. Boundaries create freedom.

  31. Money only has the value we give it.

  32. To feel more grounded when you travel, unpack everything the moment you arrive.

  33. The voice of the ego is often loud, frantic and urgent while the voice of the higher self is quiet, neutral and calm.

  34. If you don’t cut your hair for long enough, it will naturally cut itself.

  35. Everything happens for a reason.

  36. Everything is a story we’re telling ourselves. So write a story you like.

  37. Rainbow order makes everything look better.

  38. Sensuality and sexuality are not the same thing.

  39. NYC is an amazing place to live when you have the means to leave it.

  40. Life is meant to be fun.

  41. I am very much my mother and father’s daughter.

  42. There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog.

May you embrace your own gift of life and all the things that had to go right to get you to this very moment today.
